Ariel Schrag, Horn! Reviews, and my disastrous foray into comic drawing

Thanks to the loving promotion of Stephen Elliot in his Daily Rumpus emails, I've gotten way into Horn! Reviews, to name just one of the many quality Rumpus-y comics. This happens to coincide with me taking Ariel Schrag's graphic novel course at The New School.  I love Ariel as an author and as a teacher, though admittedly it took me some time to get used to her easy Northern-Cal style.  But make no mistake: she's got serious comics chops. Due to her patient "no, you CAN draw something and you will HAVE TO draw something to finish this course" urgings and out-o-sight reading list, I'm well on my way to a comically-illustrated graphic short story about a Coney Island woman's close friendship with her ancestral sea god.

In other news: I've decided to try only opening my computer for work, not for companionship.  We'll see how that goes.

I'd upload the first four pages if I had a working scanner. Donations?
